FINALLY evolved one of my own after hatching a Grimer from a 5 km egg, catching one over near where I work and walking 84 km using the buddy system. To put things into perspective, I've encountered more Dratini and Porygon than I have Grimer in over two months of playing. He's a beast as well, 1431 CP and 134 HP starting off and with Poison Jab and Sludge Wave moveset.

just evolved tonight, cp1476 with lick/sludge wave. it's rewarding to have a battle capable specimen of such a rare pkmn.

ghost/poison offense is solid, walled by nothing in the kanto dex. lick also has its use for rapid energy buildup and to reverse-counter psychics.

i have only witnessed 3 wild grimer (the first was its silhouette in sightings that i was unable to engage), caught 2 of those wilds, and hatched 1.
i reckon niantic made the muk line as rare as it is due to their relation to pollution to not offend anybody, and even after they fixed issues with grimer's model that reportedly caused some devices to malfunction, their rarity seems unchanged.

Grimers are impossible to find! My Muk has Lick and Gunk Shot. Sort of wish he had Poison Jab or Acid instead, but he is powerful. IV 93%.

Evolved him from a hatched Grimer, then trained and walked with Buddy system till I had enough candy to make him CP 2019!
He's a beast. Top 5 in my roster.

Finally got Muk. Was able to hatch 2 Grimers from 5km eggs (only a 0.5% chance per egg), and then I walked 65km to get the 50 candies. I've only seen the silhouette of a Grimer once.... never encountered or caught one in the wild. They are one of the rarest in the game.

1540 CP, moves Lick and Gunk Shot. I told myself I would be happy with any moveset combination besides Lick/Dark Pulse, so thankfully I didn't get that one. I know Poison Jab/Gunk Shot is the "ideal" moveset, but I'm learning that DPS isn't everything. Most calculations (especially on this site) do not take into account the energy gain a move has, which will affect how soon you can use your charge move. They also don't take into account whether or not you will be walled by another type combination. Poison Jab/Gunk Shot would be walled by a Ground/Rock type combination, which is 4x resistant to poison attacks. With how popular Rhydon is at the moment (Golem too, to a lesser extent), this would cause significant problems for Muk. Even non-rock ground types like Sandslash and Dugtrio would be hard to deal with, since ground is super effective against poison types and poison is weak against ground. Lick will at least do neutral damage to these types.

Another advantage to this moveset is that Lick will be super effective against any psychic type that tries to counter Muk, which makes it a good moveset for defending gyms. Gunk shot has a short damage window, so it can be dodged completely (unlike the other 2 which will cause some damage), but it also the fastest of the 3 charge moves.

Overall, I'm very happy with mine. Glad to finally have it in my roster.

Finally got my muk from a raid battle:)

Just evolved my grimer today. It got infestation and dark pulse. Idk if thats a good moveset but its simply amazing with good HP and attack, and has a CP of 1582

Definitely not a good moveset as both infestation and dark pulse wasn't poison type move so you aren't benefiting from the STAB. Highly recommend you to change your charge move to GunkShot be it attack or defense purposes. As for the fast move you may choose either depending on your battle style.
