Caught two in a park around a pond.
One have a CP around 30, and the other had a CP around 130.
Don't know if they all vary this much.

They show up EVERYDAY at the Beirut Memorial in Jacksonville NC... I've got THREE there. Mines almost 1000 now:)

I hatched one at 1,111 with about 30 candies. He's 1,345 now and vicious. I was lvl 20 when I got him and I'm 22 now. Steel Wing and X-Scissor

the best move comb is furry cutter and xscissor. Anybody agree?
Though steel wing deals more 4 dmg per sec, check the energy chart.

I caught him as a random first time encounter in Colonial beach VA USA, in my neighborhood as a level 14 trainer- Cp 571 bug type move -fury cutter, and the strongest of his possible power moves; bug buzz! I was pretty excited since, at this point after having found close to 70 Pokemon I rarely find ones I don't already have and the game has begun to lose it's appeal :(

Caught two in a field near my house and have since seen 3 more on Pokevision in the same area in the past two hours. It makes me wonder if they spawn in swarms.

I also caught mine in a grassy field near a pond. Port Orange, FL. CP 868 to start, but it only had Fury Cutter - 3 and Night Slash - 25. I hatched a lower level (556) with better attacks (Steel Wing - 15 and X-Scissor - 30). What to do, what to do...

Is this worth building if I get one with Fury Cutter and Bug Buzz?

Anonymous said...

I caught a 902 CP scyther with Steel wing and night slash

Anonymous said...

I tested my sythers (Nest at pacific Palm resort) against gyms and found furry cutter into bug buzz continuously is better than steel wing...anyone had the same result?

Anonymous said...

Fury cutter is much faster and builds the special attack quicker. I think the best combo would actually by Fury cutter and bug buzz despite what the page says (haven't tested it yet either though)

Anonymous said...

I think that FURY is faster to build the special attack, but... if you take into account the damage that STEEL WING would deal to ICE-FAIRY-ROCK type Pokemon, then there's no comparison, remember that Steel Type Attacks are very strong against those types (Lapras, Golem, Clefable) and if you hit with a beneficial attack the special bar fills even quicker. It's more to do with your intentions towards SCYTHER usages, you want him to take down PSYCHICS or to take down LAPRAS for instance...

Anonymous said...

Lapras has ice attacks which are super effective against both of Scythers typing, and the same applies for rock attacks.... So the only time when steel wing Scyther could have a edge is against Fairy types.

So against Psychics or plants then bug type moves are easily better (Good counter against Exeggutors)...

Fury cutter hits nearly as much as steel wing anyways with the speed and STAB but it builds up special really fast, bug buzz is perfect with that, if you have a scyther with fury and buzz then hold on tight to it

I did some calculations (considering energy).

:: Scyther vs Harderst Jynx ::

damage ratio <== Combo
1.5575 <== Scyther: Fury Cutter/Bug Buzz
1.4234 : Fury Cutter/X-Scissor
1.1352 : Steel Wing/Bug Buzz
1.0796 : Steel Wing/X-Scissor
0.9502 : Steel Wing
0.9017 : Fury Cutter/Night Slash

The Furry Cutter is alot better than steel wing even for a defend.

Defending pokemon combo overall efficiency.
Fury Cutter/Bug Buzz: 100%
Steel Wing/Bug Buzz: 91.1%
Fury Cutter/X-Scissor: 86.57%
Steel Wing/X-Scissor: 86.51%
Steel Wing/Night Slash: 80.55%
Fury Cutter/Night Slash: 64.16%

I have two of these in game, both with good movesets "1 fury cutter and 1 steel wing both with bugbuzz"

I really like using the fury cutter to fight gyms! it's just a shame so many things resist bug type moves.
